CENTILLION INTRODUCED A HIGH-TECH PROCESS FOR ULTRASONIC WELDING OF PLASTIC PARTS
CENTILLION introduced new technological equipment for ultrasonic welding – an innovation in the process of assembling finished products.
Ultrasonic welding is an economical and high performance method for joining plastic parts. It is a fast and efficient process which does not pollute and does not require the use of consumables. This makes it suitable for the mass production of products whose end quality and perfect appearance is of great importance.
The presses that CENTILLION has available are designed for ultrasonic welding of thermoplastic injection molded components. The application of vibration with a frequency from 20 kHz to 40 kHz along the line of contact between the two parts creates friction which subsequently generates heat. It melts the thermoplastic material locally and joins the parts in a robust, inseparable unit.
The engineers play a important role in achieving a good end result. The production of the tool and the setting up of the ultrasonic press is a technological process which requires extreme precision. Designing the optical shape of the sonotrode (tool) and the anvil is an important stage which requires very specific knowledge. And in order to operate properly, the system has to be set up in such a way that the ultrasonic transmitter (Transducer) and the mechanical transformer, combined with the sonotrode, can vibrate in resonance.
CENTILLION’s team of engineers has knowledge and experience in designing the tools and setting up the ultrasonic devices in order to work with plastic details of various shapes and sizes.
Ultrasonic welding is widely used in the medical, electronic and aerospace industries and meets the specific requirements set out by them.
